cold morning. no, make that freezing. literally. tried to clear the wee bit of frost off the windshield and remembered that doesn't really work when you don't buy the kind of windshield washing fluid that doesn't freeze...

packed kids into the car. first day back at school. bundled in coats. chattering the whole way to school. brain in a fog. coffee, when will you kick in? was really getting used to that staying up late, sleeping in (till 8 am) routine. now, back to the (try to) go to bed early, get up before dawn routine 5 days a week.

over the holiday break, lots of rearranging of furniture: first, to accommodate a new roommate, then to reposition the (new, much bigger) tv over the mantel. lots of cooking, eating, cleaning up after the cooking and eating (9 consecutive hours in the kitchen christmas day...yes, let's not repeat that next year). lots of playing video games for the first time (hence the new tv...had to be had with the addition of a wii). snuggling, tickle/wrestle fights. reorganizing. a few days of hanging by a thread because of piled-up editing work (dare you to try to concentrate and read about radars when the kids are home all day, pulling out the legos, then puzzles, now dolls, harmonicas, accordions, violins, their very own homemade band, all the while asking you "listen now, mom! look now, mom! please play with us, mom!" 'twas a very precarious time...).

now, 2 of 3 munchkins back in school, house seems eerily quiet, even with elmo singing in the background so this can be typed. the dog seems content, curled up on the ottoman, 2/3 of the crew not here to bother him, run him out of the room, use him as a play prop or accessory for kit kitteredge.

my life is full, and i love it.

p.s. in case you're wondering how the heck the picture at the top ties into this post, that would be the famous fountain in central park that's seen in home alone, and we watched way too much of home alone this holiday season, so it seemed fitting...

definitely avoid the nine hours in the kitchen next year for christmas, although it can be a helpful way to possibly avoid other holiday related stresses. have a wonderful new year. did you get wii fit with your wii? i hear that's a lot of fun.

so the roommate is our friend/sitter, whom we've known for almost 4 years and who mysteriously loves to babysit our kids for free because she thinks they're awesome. yeah, i know.

i really really really want wii fit, but we got this sports package thing with it, and i swear i've almost dislocated some joints already doing bowling and boxing. have you seen the ads for the wii skateboarding? i totally want that.
